Any pump peeps in NY? It'd be nice to hang out with pump people or have someone nearby who understands in case of anything... :-)

Jeannine, you can (and should) pick whatever pump is best for you. MOST insurance now covers Omnipod (I believe we're still waiting for Medicare to cover it). Certainly check with your insurance, then look over all the material for your options, then meet with the representatives of every pump you MIGHT be interested in. Feelings can change once you have it in your hand or attached to you. Check them all out and try as many as you can before making a final choice. Whatever you choose will be with you 24/7 for the next 5 years of your life so take the time to make the best decision for you. (EVERY pump I know of right now is a good pump with a loyal following of users, you just need to find the one that feels best for YOU).

Thanks Rebecca... I want to do whats best for me... I've had so many things wrong the last few months... Had my galbadder out and Now I am having lens implants put in... My eyes are real bad... I have to take thyroid pills as well... So, If she thinks I need the pump I will get it...I've heard good thing about the Omnipod... But, that wasnt one of the ones she gave me info on... Can I still pick the Omnipod?

Jeannine, take your time to become accustomed to it and move to the pump when you're ready for it. Most of us have found that the little bit of extra work initially has helped greatly but I would have been miserable if I hadn't wanted to do it. It's good that your doctor is giving you info from a couple of different companies, I'd also look at Insulet's Omnipod... those are the three big companies right now. Good luck!

I'm a newbee and my Doc already wants to put me on a pump she gave me some info on the Medtronic and the ping... Idk what to think of all this..It's so new to me...

i love my 2020, waayyy better than my Medtronic.. I have had 5 medtronics, within 3 years, so they let me off the contract, so I got an Animas, and I love it! It hasn't
malfunctioned once!!
